She found herself on the street, but found shelter at “New Life”.
A new mother has arrived at the Mother and Child House of the Christian Mission “New Life” — Halyna. She is 38 years old. She came together with her youngest daughter, Viktoriia, who is 11. Today, they are side by side as they go through an important stage — a stage of recovery, peace, and a new beginning.
Viktoriia attends school. Despite her young age, she has already gone through a lot alongside her mother. Now she has the opportunity to stay in a safe place where there is care, support, and stability. Halyna’s older children, aged 16 and 15, are studying at a vocational school and live in a dormitory on the territory of the educational institution.
Halyna comes from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. She does not speak much about her childhood. There was not as much warmth in her memories as every child should have. She grew up with her mother, but according to Halyna, she often lacked attention, support, and simple maternal care.
Despite this, she did well at school. She communicated a lot with teachers and other adults. Perhaps it was there that she searched for what she lacked at home: acceptance, a kind word, and the feeling that someone cared about her.
After school, Halyna got married. Children were born into the family, and life seemed to be gradually becoming calm and stable. But a serious illness took her husband’s life. Halyna was left alone with two children in her arms.
It was a loss that changed everything.
Later, a new relationship appeared in her life. She began living with a man, and in this relationship her youngest daughter, Viktoriia, was born. But the family did not last. They separated, and the girl’s father does not take part in her life or upbringing.
Loneliness, pain, depression, debts, and the daily feeling of hopelessness gradually became a heavy burden. When a person has no support for a long time, even the strongest can break. Alcohol appeared in Halyna’s life. It did not solve a single problem. It only made them deeper.
It seemed there was no way out.
But sometimes God opens doors through people who once received help themselves. That is what happened this time. Halyna turned to a neighbor for advice. This woman had previously received support from the Christian Mission “New Life” after a fire in her home. She did not leave Halyna alone with her trouble, told her where to turn, and helped her come to us.
Today, Halyna is already at the Mother and Child House. She does not deny her past, but she also does not want to remain its prisoner. She is optimistic and wants to change her life, leaving addiction, fear, and pain behind.
There is still a lot of work ahead. Recovery does not happen in one day. But the most important step has already been taken: Halyna asked for help and accepted it.
Now she has a chance to start a new life. A life where there is safety. Support. Hope. Faith in the future.
