HELP FOR PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS ON THE STREETS OF ODESA
Every day at 5:00 PM, the team of the Christian Mission “New Life” goes out onto the streets of Odesa to provide a hot meal to people who do not have their own homes. This ministry has been a constant source of support for 16 years, helping those who are without shelter and need not only food, but also further assistance.
One of the regular locations where meals are distributed is Pryvokzalna Square. Here, the Mission’s team meets people living on the streets, brings them a hot meal, and speaks with those who need help.
For a person who has no home and does not know where they will spend the next night, a hot meal is essential daily support. But the purpose of this ministry goes beyond providing food. Every meeting is also an opportunity to understand a person’s specific needs and help them take the next step.
Over the years, many people have received assistance after reaching out to the Mission’s team during the meal distribution. For some, this meant temporary accommodation; for others, it was the first necessary assistance in a difficult situation. Some people received support on the path to overcoming addiction and were able to make major changes in their lives.
Therefore, the daily hot meal is also a point of contact with people who need help. People can approach the Mission’s team with questions about accommodation, further support, or assistance in difficult life circumstances.
For some, such a meeting becomes the beginning of a journey toward change. What initially seems like a simple opportunity to have a meal can sometimes become the first step toward temporary accommodation, overcoming addiction, restoring documents, returning to a stable life, and finding new opportunities.
Meal distribution on the streets of Odesa takes place every day at 5:00 PM. The Mission’s team continues to go where people without homes are staying, providing them with a hot meal and remaining available to those who need further assistance.
Behind this ministry is not a one-time initiative, but 16 years of continuous work with people who have found themselves living on the streets. Circumstances have changed, new people have come, and their stories and needs have changed as well. But the need for hot food, support, and an opportunity to ask for help remains.
Pryvokzalna Square has become one of the places where this assistance reaches people directly. Here, the team does more than simply provide a hot meal. They meet people living on the streets, listen to their needs, and can help them find a path toward further support.
A hot meal cannot solve every problem a person faces. But sometimes it can be the first step toward change.
