Evacuation under fire and the road to safety

The Mother and Child Home of the Christian mission “New Life” is a place where families who have fled the war and lost their homes find safety, support, and a chance to start over. This is where Natalia arrived on February 20, 2026, with her five-year-old daughter Nastya after being forced to evacuate from the Zaporizhzhia region.

The family came to our mission with the assistance of the Charity Fund “Artak” (Zaporizhzhia). After the evacuation, the mother and child stayed at their transit center and needed further safe accommodation.

Natalia is 40 years old. She lived in the village of Ternuvate, Zaporizhzhia district, Zaporizhzhia region. Her life has been tested many times: she lost her father at the age of 16, and her mother died eight years ago. After the birth of her daughter, her only support was her aunt and cousin.

Nastya is 5 years old. She is an active, cheerful, and very open girl who, despite the events she has experienced, retains her childlike sincerity.

Until September 2025, Natalia and her daughter lived in Ternuvate and, according to her mother, lived peacefully. However, in October 2025, the situation changed dramatically: intense shelling and destruction began. For the sake of her child’s safety, Natalia was forced to evacuate on her own to Novomykolaivka, where they lived with a host family for a month and a half.

Later, Natalia turned to the Artak Charitable Foundation with a request to help with further evacuation. On December 11, 2025, they were transported to a transit center in Zaporizhia, where they stayed until February 19, 2026. The foundation's employees sought opportunities for stable and safe accommodation for the family and advised them to contact our mission.

Today, Natalia is in a state of emotional exhaustion. Constant danger, relocation, and uncertainty about the future have left a deep mark. She is very concerned about her safety and that of her daughter and needs psychological support and moral recovery.

At the Mother and Child Home, the family receives the necessary assistance, support, and stability. The mission team accompanies Natalia in the process of restoring her inner balance and creates conditions for a gradual return to a peaceful life.

For Nastya, this home is an opportunity to experience a safe childhood again, without the sounds of sirens and explosions. For Natalia, it is a chance to gather strength, regain confidence, and start a new chapter in her life.
